A big shout out from NCC members to World Snowboarding champs Taiga Hasegawa and Zoi Sadowski Synnott for their big wins in Edmonton at The Style Experience FIS Snowboard Big Air World Cup.

NCC members working for Chinook Scaffolding made it all possible by building the largest scaffold big air jump ever constructed!

This colossal ramp with more than 30,500ft2 of plywood is 16 feet higher than the old one and holds over 2000 cubic meters of snow, driving incredible jumps. It’s curved position in the stadium delivers a spectacular experience for fans, too.

“Many members are avid snowboarders and extreme sports enthusiasts, so making it possible for the world’s elite snowboarders to achieve new heights is a really exciting project for them” says NCC COO Sam Kemble. “It’s a good reminder that the construction community makes everything possible – even getting air on a snowboard and competing for world championships in your sport.”

The event brought some of the world’s best snowboarders to Edmonton as part of the Shred the North Series run by Canada Snowboard.

“Our scaffolders are the best and with this special project they delivered for the best” says Edmonton Manager, Dave Smits.. “There is no job too challenging, too unique, or too big for our team. Congratulations to all the athletes and the tradespeople who worked so hard to make this fantastic event possible.”

“When we attract and host events like this, they come to life through great tourism partners and service providers – this is something we can be proud of in Edmonton,” says Paul Hawes, Explore Edmonton’s vice-president of destination development and marketing. “This was no easy task building a 162-foot-high snowboard jump into Commonwealth Stadium. Chinook Scaffolding delivered, allowing Edmontonians and visitors to enjoy this entertaining event.”
