Introducing Kim Loy,
Lead Site Rep, National Construction Council
Kim Loy is an 18-year UBC member, Journeyperson Carpenter, and Journeyperson Scaffolder.
Most recently, he spent eight years in Alberta’s downstream Oil and Gas industry as a team leader in Industrial Health, Safety, and Environment, involved in investigations and causal analysis. As that “person in the field” who stands beside and supports workers, supervisors, and management, Kim knows his way around a worksite and is a champion for safety and productivity on the job.
Kim began his career as Red Seal Carpenter in the commercial building sector, and then became a ticketed Industrial Scaffolder working on projects from new industrial construction to the Naval Dockyards on the West Coast.
Highly experienced in building working relationships across all levels of a project, Kim believes in getting down to the root cause of any situation using his advanced analytical and investigative skills. As an experienced leader, he never forgets that empathy and understanding are also critical to creating successful outcomes, as well as lasting and productive professional relationships.
"I worked with Kim Loy on the Rio Tinto site for the Kitimat Modernization Project, and it was a pleasure.” Says Sam Kemble, NCC Chief Operating Officer. “He provided exceptional service and demonstrated thoughtfulness in representing the members. His judgment was rare and excellent. We are thrilled to welcome Kim to the NCC team as Lead Site Representative and look forward to his continued support and service to NCC members of the UBC Canadian District."
